SZ/RZ Colors

SZ / RZ colors

Colors in wich the SZ and RZ have been produced

colors

We all know that the SZ was red with a grey roof,..... but also exceptions came out of the Zagato factory. (apart from the Trophy racers and A. d'Adamich cars )

The SZ's came in general in red with the grey roof and beige interior ( Rosso Alfa 130 Duo Tone /Grigio Scuro AR 633 )

but:

1. ) There was one SZ painted completely red ( SZ 420 ),..also the roof. The first owner of that car had documentation from Zagato that the car has been delivered in that way. Some others have been painted completely red several years later. So not an official Zagato job.

2.) Than we have ofcourse the black SZ from Sig. Andrea Zagato.

This car was "born" as a normal red/grey SZ, but came back to the Zagato company and has been altered to black.
For more information please check out the topic: "The story of the black Zagato SZ"

3.) Black interior was at least put in one other SZ ( SZ 721 ), but that car was at the outside normally red/grey. It had the normal SZ instruments. The car is owned now by "The Franschhoek Motor Museum" in South Africa.

4.) At least one red/grey SZ has been sold with white dials in the instruments to Germany. SZ number 938.

5.) Than according to some inside information - I got several years ago - also 2 or 3 SZ’s left the Zagato company in the color yellow / grey roof and have been sold to Japan.

6.) The RZ was available in three colors, red ( PPG 130 Rosso Alfa ), yellow ( PPG 258 Giallo Ginestra ) and black (PPG 601 Nero - two coats ).

7.) Three RZ's were made in the color silver.

colors

2 Silver coloured RZ's ( number 254 and 266 ) had some extra's from the company Zender, such as the 5 spoked wheels, some steel accessories as the gearleaver knob, the handbrake handle, the "door lock pins" on top of the doors interior. Also the silver RZ's came with another steering wheel than the normal Momo one. As far as I know there was one silver car in Germany. Sold in 2008 to Italy and one has been exported to Japan. In September 2013 we found the third Siver RZ, number 262 - a never registrated car - with only 300 km. on the counter in Italy. This car had no Zender extra's. Over the years the first 2 lost some of their Zender accessories.

8.) Artic White RZ number 265 in Japan. This car has a bordeaux red interior and was sold via the Japanese company Autech ( AUTECH ZAGATO which is a JV between ZAGATO and a subsider of Nissan motor, set up in 1986. )

9.) Than in Japan at least one RZ has been sold ( via Autech ? ) as a 75 years Zagato anniversary model in the colours Black and Silver ( RZ 149 ). Probably the patern of the colors has been based on the patern as used on the Martin Dawes RZ racer.
